A tree trunk table is a table whose top is made from a solid, unsawed plank (post) of the tree trunk. This means the tabletop is not made from multiple pieces glued together, but from a single piece of sawn timber, as it was cut from the trunk at the sawmill.

For us, the unaltered cross-section of the trunk (the tabletop) reflects a pure piece of nature with all its species- and growth-related characteristics. We want to present the trunk as it is, not as a cut and glued standard piece of furniture, but as a living, unique creation.

We use hardwoods (deciduous trees) from our region. These include ash, oak, elm, walnut, maple, and various fruit trees such as plum, apple, or pear. Occasionally, we also have access to rarer species that are not typically found in the lumber trade. If you have special requests, just ask – maybe we have it in stock!

The woods from which our tables are made come to us through various channels. We don’t have fixed suppliers but specifically select our trunks. This is more time-consuming and only possible through a good network and a bit of luck, but it allows us to obtain extraordinary dimensions, growth forms, and wood species.

Along the edges, we remove the bark from the tree's edge, as it can catch on clothing and is simply impractical. However, in less exposed areas (e.g., at the end of the trunk in a branch fork), the bark can remain on the tree.

We love the live edge because it reflects the tree's original form. However, upon request, we also make tables with straight edges or customize the tabletop to fit your room's layout.

Yes! We produce with you and according to your specifications. This means you’ll choose the trunk that suits you best from our stock together with us. This ensures that your table perfectly fits your room layout. We can also adapt the trunk to your spatial requirements, such as integrating it into a kitchen island or connecting it to a corner of the room.

No – The glass feet are securely clamped in the metal rail, ensuring that the table stands stable, even with several meters in length and a heavy tabletop.

The glass feet of our tables are made of two layers of laminated safety glass (VSG), which can easily withstand everyday use (and even the wildest family life). We’ve had the load capacity of our construction tested in a lab, and even the maximum load of the testing machine (24,000 N, about 2,400 kg) had no effect on the structure.

Yes, as an alternative to the transparent glass feet, we can gladly offer custom colors.

To protect both your floor and the glass edges, there is a silicone strip under the glass feet. This allows the table to be easily moved without leaving scratches on the floor.

No problem – By positioning the glass feet in the metal rail, any unevenness can be balanced out, and the table will stand perfectly level.

The rail primarily serves to securely hold the glass feet, ensuring the table stands without wobbling. Additionally, the solid rail provides protection against warping of the tabletop (like a classic cross rail), adding more stability.

Epoxy resin is a high-quality plastic that we use to fill cracks and holes in the wood. We apply the resin in a way that makes processing (e.g., planing) and the later use of the table (e.g., writing on a flat surface) possible. We use transparent epoxy resin to highlight the natural beauty of the trunk.

For the surface treatment of the wood, we use our own specially crafted blend of highly durable wood oils.

Very well! That’s what it’s made for. While a Stammdesign table looks very elegant, it’s designed to withstand everyday use. Whether as the family centerpiece for daily breakfasts and dinners, a conference table in the office, a kids’ art station, or for a quick snack in between – the Stammdesign table is meant to be a part of everyday life!

The prices of Stammdesign tables vary significantly based on wood type, size, and custom requests. A dining or office table with a length of 2.5 - 3 meters in the standard version costs around €6500 - €8000. The range for coffee tables is approximately €2000 - €4000, and for wash consoles, it’s around €1300 - €1500. Our flooring is in the range of approximately €300 - €400 per m².

A Stammdesign table is a long-lasting item. Our tables are solidly built, can be re-treated and refreshed as needed, or adapted to a new room layout. When moving, the table simply comes along – the easy assembly system allows for reassembly within minutes and doesn’t wear out even after repeated disassemblies. We want a Stammdesign table to bring as much joy to your grandchildren as it does to you.

We deliver the table to your home and assemble it for you, unless you'd prefer to do it yourself. We’re also happy to assist with moving and transporting the table at a later stage.

Generally, maintaining a Stammdesign table is no different from maintaining other wood surfaces. The advantage of our oiled surface: Unlike a lacquered surface, even partial damage (scratches, abrasion, stains, etc.) can be repaired by roughening the damaged area and applying oil again.

For cleaning after eating or using the table, a damp cloth works best. For heavier dirt, a soft sponge with neutral soap can be used.

Do what you always do with red wine stains: wipe the spilled wine immediately. The oiled surface is water-repellent and protects the wood, but substances like red wine should not be left on the wood for long.

For the oiled surface, other oils are unsuitable. Therefore, avoid grease splashes and wax drips. If they happen, wipe them away immediately.
